Robison Orthodontics Mesa AZ Fluoride and White Spot Prevention With Braces

Fluoride and White Spot Prevention With Dental Braces

Fluoride plays a big roll in the prevention against White Spots. There are number of tooth cleaning cavity protection products out there that contain Fluoride. It is important especially if you wear dental braces that you know what the products are along with the best way to use them. Not to keep good oral hygiene may  extend your treatment time and cost.

Fluoride Products and uses

Fluoride Toothpaste when used on an everyday basis is very effective in the prevention against White Spots with your Dental Braces. Using a toothpaste that has more Fluoride is more effective than using a toothpaste with less.
Fluoride Varnish  Is an in office application. It is done 2-4 times per year, and highly recommended for those wearing Dental Braces.  Patients who are wearing Dental Braces should ask for a treatment, which is very effective against white spots. The Fluoride varnish is called CPP-ACP.

E-Space Lower Holding Arch Robison Orthodontics Mesa AZ

Orthodontic Braces E-Space Lower Holding Arch

The E-space lower holding arch is a space maintainer, it keeps your molars from moving forward and prevents them from blocking the space where your adult teeth are supposed to come in. Dr. Robison uses the E-space lower holding arch appliance mostly on children who have lost their teeth too early and in need of  preventive dental care. The E-space lower holding arch is almost always followed by Dental Braces.

E-space lower holding arch is made up of two metal bands attached to your lower molars connected by a wire that runs along the inside of your lower teeth to keep your molars from moving and blocking the space where your Adult permanent teeth are supposed to come in. The E-space lower holding arch is not removable,

You should avoid sticky or hard food. Sticky food can loosen your appliance and hard food can break it.
As always good oral hygiene, brushing twice daily and keeping you appliance clean will help ensure the success of the E-space lower holding arch.
For the first few days you should speak out loud so your tongue gets used to it. A special wax is given if the band bugs your cheeks.

Orthodontist in Mesa AZ Robison Orthodontics

Mesa, Arizona Orthodontist’s Dr. Tyler Robison and Dr. Blake Robison recommend that children be seen as early as 7 years of age by an orthodontist. If your child is older than seven, it’s certainly not too late foe a check-up.

There are severely reasons  why  an early orthodontic check-up is  recommended . At the  age of seven Dr. Robison can detect  subtle problems with jaw growth and emerging teeth while some baby teeth are still present. With early orthodontic treatment Dr. Robison can intercept more serious dental/oral issues from developing and may make your child's treatment at a later age shorter and less complicated. There are some cases where having a check-up at the age of seven would enable Dr. Robison to achieve results that may not be possible once the face and jaw have finished growing.

We have been treating both children and adults alike since the opening of our Mesa Arizona Orthodontics practice in 2001.

Robison Orthodontics  excels in proactive orthodontic treatments and offers patients an initial complimentary consultation to see if braces or Invisalign invisible aligners are the right treatment for your dental health needs.
